PROFILE
As my dad careened around corners on the way to the hospital, I was born just over 50 years ago in the front seat of a '49 Ford convertible. (Perhaps that accounts for the quirky sense of humor.) The first of four children, I have been drawing, painting and spilling ink on shirts, carpets and chairs ever since.
Although I had originally planned to be a high school Engish teacher, I took a detour and have been an illustrator for over twenty five years now. Besides the advertising, editorial illustration, and over seventy children's books to date, I create greeting cards with my brother Carl. Over the years more than 100 million of our cards have been sold through Recycled Paper Greetings.
While the illustration keeps me busy, the English teacher part of me still creeps out. I enjoy doing school visits and occasional teaching, using my drawing as I speak, for churches and youth camps.
I live with my wife in Irvine, California, and have three children, a dog, cat and a desert tortoise who is always looking for a way to sneak out of the yard.
